Getting a ticket, or my first lesson in cultural differences

I woke up this morning to an email with my flight information (FINALLY).  I've been patiently waiting for this for several weeks.  They promised it 10-14 days before I would leave, said they would get it last week, then yesterday, and finally, today, I have it!  I was prepared to have to leave on Thursday, so this is cutting it down to the wire.  Well, if I had been buying it, I would have bought it about 2 days after I knew for sure I was going.  I know this is not crazy late for post-Soviet bureaucracy, so I've tried to be patient, but yesterday I started wondering if I was actually going to move.  Now I know I am.

My ticket is for this Sunday, which gives me a few extra days, including Saturday, when I get to see my brother perform with So Many Dynamos one last time.  I am very happy about that.  Unfortunately, I leave Sunday out of Chicago, so I have to figure out how to get to Chicago on Sunday.  The other good news is that from Chicago I have a direct flight to Istanbul and then a few hours later have a direct flight to Tbilisi (the capital of Georgia, in case you've never heard of it before).  That will be much less painful than I thought, getting in at 2:45 AM on Tuesday aside.  In a week I'll be in Georgia!!  While trying to pack up my life in St. Louis, I can now start dreaming of khachapuri.
